Il y a déjà six ans que des terroristes ont détournés des avions et ont percutés les tours jumelles du World Trade Center, le Pentagone ainsi qu’un champ en Pennsylvanie. Détournement d’avion en Turquie/ Hijacking in Turkey
D’après l’AFP, un avion de ligne de la compagnie turque AtlasJet reliant Chypre à Istambul a été détourné par des pirates de l’air. Ceux-ci se réclament d’Al Qaeda et ont exigé que l’avion les déposent soit en Iran ou en Syrie.
L’avion s’est immobilisé à Antalya (sud de la Turquie) car il manquait de carburant pour aller vers l’Iran. D’après un porte-parole de la compagnie presque tous les passagers ont été relâché mais il resterait six personnes (en plus du personnel) à bord.
Si les pirates de l’air sont véritablement d’Al Qaeda ça serait un changement de tactique, eux qui d’habitude font des attentats suicides…

According to AFP, a commercial aircraft from the Turkish company AtlasJet has been hijacked. The plane was going from Cyprus to Istambul; the hijackers have declared themselves to be from Al Qaeda and have ordered to be dropped either in Iran or Syria.
The plane is on the tarmac in Antalya (southern Turkey) because it needs refueling. Most of the 136 passengers have been released, but a spokesman fron AtlasJet told journalists that six passengers and the staff are still onboard.
If the hijackers are really from Al Qaeda this is a change of tactics, as they usually they go for suicide bombings.
Update at 8h15 AM: just saw on CNN that the whole thing is over. The two highjackers surrendered to the Turkish authorities; I’m glad that there was no blood shed.
Pakistan
Je suis entièrement d’accord avec ceux qui critiquent Barack Obama par rapport au dossier pakistanais. En effet, la dernière chose qu’il faudrait est que le pouvoir pakistanais tombe aux mains d’islamistes. N’oublions pas que le Pakistan a la bombe atomique! Il faut que les occidentaux supportent du mieux qu’ils peuvent le régime de Musharraf, même s’il n’est pas parfait. Sinon, on pourrait se retrouver avec un deuxième Iran sur les bras. Juste l’idée d’une république islamique avec l’arme nucléaire me donne des cauchemars. C’est drôle, en 10 jours on dirait que Barack Obama est passé d’un disciple de John Lennon à Dr.Strangelove!!
Je me rappelle avoir entendu Pat Buchanan disant que le Pakistan est présentement l’endroit le plus dangereux du monde; je crois qu’il a raison là-dessus./
I wholeheartedly agree with those that criticize Barack Obama re: last week’s comments on Pakistan. The West must do whatever it can to help Musharraf, because he could be the only thing that stands between Pakistan becoming an Islamic republic with nuclear weapons! Let’s not repeat the mistakes that were made in Iran in 1978-79…The idea of an Islamic State with nuclear weapons gives me nightmares!

I remember Pat Buchanan saying that Pakistan was presently the most dangerous place on earth… I think he might be right.
