-Deux soldats canadiens sont décédés hier lorsqu’une bombe artisanale a percuté le blindé dans lequel ils prennaient place. Un interprête a aussi été tué, tandis qu’un caméraman de Radio-Canada a été blessé. Le journaliste Patrice Roy qui les accompagnait a subi un violent choc nerveux.

-Two Canadian soldiers were killed yesterday when a bomb hit their vehicle in the Khandahar region. Their interpreter died in the blast; a SRC cameraman was injured while the journalist (Patrice Roy) who was riding with them suffered from a shock.

Un membre du 22ième tué en Afghanistan/ A member of the Royal 22nd killed in Afghanistan
D’après la Presse Canadienne un membre du 3ième bataillon du Royal 22ième régiment basé à Valcartier est mort en Afghanistan. Simon Longtin, agé de 23 ans et originaire de Longueuil, a été tué d’une bombe artisanale sur un chemin dans la province de Kandahar.
Il était arrivé en Afghanistan le 30 juillet dernier.J’offre mes sympathies à toute sa famille, ses amis et ses confrères des Vandoos. //
According to the Canadian Press a member of the 3rd batallion of the 22nd regiment based in Valcartier (Qc) died today in Afghanistan. Simon Longtin, 23, from Longueuil, was killed when an home-made explosive device detonated on a road in the southern province of Kandahar.
He arrived in Afghanistan on July 30. I offer my condolences to his family, his friends and his fellow Vandoos.
